Health Science (HSC)

HSC-499  Health Science Capstone  (3 credits)

The Health Science Capstone is a culminating experience in which students define, analyze, evaluate, and develop an intervention for a community health challenge. Grounded in the Public Health Foundation's Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (2021), the course emphasizes professional communication, ethical practice, health equity, community engagement, and data-informed decision-making. Students integrate their foundational preparation in the physical and social sciences with the competencies of public health practice to complete a faculty supervised scholarly or practice-based project. Students will also demonstrate readiness for entry-level health-related careers or advanced study in graduate health professions programs through completion of a professional portfolio.
